TROUBLESHOOTING
We strongly advise you not to attempt to service pro audio gear yourself.
Some amplifiers can hold
lethal voltages
even when turned off
.
Warranty work is voided if you attempt to open the unit.
Checking our list below will give you some things to try before you bring
your unit in and also give you an idea of the kind of info we'll need from you:
UNIT WILL NOT POWER UP
Is it plugged in? (It happens all the time...)
Is it a reliable outlet?
Is it a reliable power cord/supply?
Do you have an external fuse or breaker to check?
UNIT POWERS UP BUT NO SOUND
Check speaker cords
Check all connections
Are cords and connections reliable (can they be checked on something else?)
Check display (any indicator lights/error messages, etc.)
Check for thermal light
UNIT POWERS UP BUT HAS BAD SOUND
Is it intermittent or constant?
Does it occur at power up or after warm up?
Is it connected to any other devices that could cause the problem?
Does it have tubes? Have they been checked/replaced recently?
Have tubes been biased?
Are there any batteries that need replacement?
Speakers damaged? Correct ohms?
UNIT POWERS UP, SOUNDS OK BUT DOESN'T FUNCTION PROPERLY
Switches/sliders/buttons or connections clean?
Programming conflicts?
Does unit have internal batteries?
Have you had any recent power outages during use?
THE MAGIC SMOKE GOT OUT
Don't laugh. If you've seen the smoke get out, don't try to power up the unit.
It could cause further damage or a dangerous fire situation.
Console yourself that at least the problem should be pretty evident
when we open it up...
